Solar Decathlon team Skyping with campus

It's Green Week at Purdue, and the Solar Decathlon team, in Washington, D.C., is Skyping with campus today as part of the focus on energy. Team member Lee Causey chatted with Michael Gulich, Purdue's director of sustainability, during the first of four Skype sessions this morning. Attendees learned tidbits like:

  • Purdue has the second largest house and it was the least expensive to build (making it a strong contender for the Affordability contest, winner to be announced 9/27)
  • They were on the local Fox news station for a five-minute interview this morning
  • At the time of the chat, the Purdue INHome was generating 2.6 kilowatts of electricity and feeding 2.3 kilowatts back into the grid.

Find out the answers to your Solar Decathlon questions at the final two Skype sessions -- 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the MSEE atrium. Causey also asked for people to vote for the People's Choice Award at the Solar Decathlon Web site.
