We were glad to host visiting women from Tajikistan, all of whom are part of the Congressional Office of International Leadership. Women in Technology
Showing support for women in technology
"We need more girl power in the power industry," said one student. "Women in technology rock!" exclaimed an administrator. "It's everyone's responsibility to take action (women included)!" added a graduate student.
Women in Technology sit to take a stand
An empty red chair will beckon to students, faculty and staff in Knoy Hall March 5, urging them to reflect on the role of women in technology.
As part of the national Sit With Me campaign, Purdue’s Women in Technology student organization will embrace the slogan “sometimes you have to sit to take a stand” and invite others to offer insights about women in technology.
Women and men are invited to share their thoughts between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 5 in the Knoy Hall lobby.
WIT to take part in Women's History Month activities
The Women in Technology student organization will participate in two events during Women’s History Month in March.
As part of a campus wide celebration, WIT will take part in the University March in March, which will commemorate similar parades 100 years ago in support of women’s suffrage.
In addition, the women will take part in a nationwide effort to speak out and inspire more women to pursue careers in IT or other technology disciplines.
WITty Sisters mentoring program receives seed fund grant
The College of Technology’s Women in Technology (WIT) student organization got a little bit of help in their efforts to recruit and retain the next generation of female leaders in technology, thanks to a $750 grant from the National Center for Women & Information Technology.
WIT was awarded the 2013 Student Seed Fund grant, sponsored through a partnership between NCWIT Academic Alliance and Symantec, for their WITty Sisters mentoring program.
A helping hand
The circle of every technology student’s life could soon start and end as part of a mentoring experience. Mentoring programs for organizations and departments within the college are helping first-year students with successful transitions to the rigors of college classes. And upperclassmen are benefitting from the experience along the way.
