Andrew Takami has been appointed director of the Purdue University College of Technology at New Albany, effective April 4. He will oversee operations for the location, which is headquartered at the Purdue Technology Center of Southeast Indiana.
"I am committed to growing enrollment and the programs at the Purdue College of Technology at New Albany," Takami said. "I am looking forward to forging strategic partnerships in Southern Indiana and Metro Louisville which will enhance our ability to deliver an excellent Purdue education in applied engineering, applied computer science, and applied management to more people across our region."
Takami takes over the position previously held by Andy Schaffer, who now provides leadership to all eight Purdue College of Technology locations as associate dean for Statewide Technology.
Prior to his appointment, Takami served as executive director of college advancement at Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana in Sellersburg. There he coordinated the campus's first-ever capital campaign. He also served as manager of alumni affairs and special events for IU Southeast for four years.
"I will be very focused on student success, because we can create a more positive community impact with a well-educated regional workforce," he said. "We will looking to the community to assist us in our efforts."

Takami earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Southeast and his master’s degree in philanthropic studies and nonprofit management at the IU School of Philanthropy at IUPUI.
