Queensland University of Technology (QUT), is one of Australia's largest universities offering courses in almost every professional discipline. Queensland, which is twice the size of Texas, occupies the north-east corner of the Australian continent. The northern half of the state is tropical with winters that are appealingly warm. Off the north Queensland coast lies one of the seven wonders of the world, The Great Barrier Reef. Brisbane, with a population of 1.5 million, is the state capital and is situated in the south-east corner of the state.
