The first week will be spent in Peru at one of the Polytechnic's strategic partner universities, UTEC located in the capital of Lima. The second week will be spent in Chile at the Universidad Tecnica Federico de Santa Maria located in the port city of Valparaíso which is walking distance to the coastal city of Viña del Mar. The program will also spend a day or two in Santiago, the capital of Chile. This course will give these students an introduction to intercultural competency skills in their academic careers and focus on tech and design with a emphasis on human-centered design. The course work will utilize the Global Up Abroad (formerly GCC) modules as well as focusing on the benefits of intercultural competence in the tech fields that operate in a global setting. "Being part of this study abroad program has profoundly influenced my perspective on life and future plans. While living in a metropolitan area has exposed me to various cultures, my experiences in Peru and Chile have deepened my appreciation for cultures I wasn't previously familiar with. I now have a newfound respect for these diverse perspectives. I am eager to apply the knowledge and experiences I've gained to immerse myself socially and culturally in different environment."
