Michael Ferrero is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology at Purdue University. He has over 25 years of professional flying experience in a wide range of aircraft and operational settings, including FAR Part 135 charter, Part 121 airline, and Part 91 corporate flight departments. Early in his career, he served as a FAR 135 Learjet and Hawker Captain flying throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. While at United Airlines, Mr. Ferrero flew Boeing 737, 757, 767, and Airbus A320 aircraft in both domestic and international operations. As an International Captain for the Motorola flight department, he flew Falcon 50EX and 900EX, as well as Gulfstream 450 and 550, while also serving as the department’s Director of Aviation Safety. His career has included extensive international operations experience, which has taken him to over thirty countries and six continents.
Prior to joining Purdue University, Mr. Ferrero’s collegiate teaching experience includes courses in airline operations, aviation management, aviation meteorology, applied aerodynamics, and aviation human factors. He currently teaches turbine flight operations in Purdue’s Hawker 900XP level D simulator.
