Tech Expo Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Tech Expo?

The purpose of the Tech Expo is two-fold:

  • You might not realize the array of items and components made in Indiana or all the businesses that are located in the Midwest. The Tech Expo is your company’s opportunity to network with those businesses. Think of the Tech Expo as a business-to-business trade show.
  • The Tech Expo also features an opportunity for manufacturers and suppliers to connect with the innovative student minds of Purdue Polytechnic by attending their Capstone Project presentation. Capstone Projects will be on display during the Tech Expo. Take some time to walk the aisles, visit with the students, and see their capabilities.

Who should reserve booth space at the Tech Expo?

Manufacturers and suppliers from any sized business who wants to connect with other manufacturers and suppliers should attend Tech Expo. The price for a booth at the Tech Expo was set to ensure small and mid-sized companies would also have the opportunity to show their products.

Is the Tech Expo a career fair?

Leave your resumes at home because the Tech Expo is not a career fair. The Tech Expo will host engineering staffs and manufacturing department employees. It’s everyone’s opportunity to “talk shop.”

Who should attend the Tech Expo?

Manufacturers, suppliers, clients and customers who want to connect with other manufacturers, suppliers, clients and customers should attend Tech Expo. Companies that are interested in seeing the capabilities of the Polytechnic students will also benefit from attending.

My business is small — just a few people. Should I attend the Tech Expo?

Yes! Here’s your chance to network with people from businesses of all sizes.

Is the Tech Expo limited to businesses from the Lafayette, Indiana area?

The Tech Expo is open to businesses from throughout the globe.

What is a capstone project?

Think of the year-end Senior Capstone Program as the students’ “final project” before graduation. At the beginning of the year, they accepted challenges presented by sponsoring companies. The students worked with representatives from each business to research the problem, design a solution, and create and validate prototypes of their solutions. This presentation is how the engineering technology students showcase their problem-solving abilities and technological expertise, which are well-suited for manufacturing settings.

Why would my company want to sponsor a capstone project?

Does your company have challenge delivering a particular product? Is your business having trouble with a certain stage of production?

Our students have spent years studying automation and systems integration, robotics, electromechanical technology, and mechanical engineering technology. They are champing at the bit to put their technological abilities, problem-solving skills and creativity to work on real-world problems.
