In recent months, disturbing acts of hate and violence against Asians and Asian Americans have been happening with more frequency in the United States, culminating with a series of fatal shootings earlier this week. Eight people are dead; six of them were women of Asian descent.
The Purdue Polytechnic Institute mourns this pain and loss with our Asian and Asian American colleagues, family and friends. We condemn the hatred that caused it. We assert that anti-Asian racism and its negative impact on our students, staff and faculty is not acceptable, and we support the statement released by the Purdue University Division of Diversity and Inclusion.
Please join me in the commitment to making the Polytechnic Institute a college where everyone feels safe, knows they are welcomed, and understands that success is attainable by all. And, if you have ideas that could help improve the Polytechnic, please send them to me here.
