The Air Transport Institute for Environmental Sustainability (AirTIES) Research Center supports the development, testing, and implementation of new aviation fuels. The Center is developing a cohesive knowledge base on the interaction of alternative fuel with the aircraft propulsion system and with the air transportation system. AirTIES provides a structure under which scientists and industrial partners may conduct fundamental research while maintaining an integrated focus on the overall goal of implementing new, sustainable fuels. Through participation in the AirTIES Center, researchers are in a better position to promote a two-way flow of information between alternative fuel research and the air transportation system. With increased communication among researchers, fuel producers, feed stock producers and suppliers, the fuel development industry is more informed and collaborative.
