CIT graduate delivers student response during spring commencement ceremony
Abhishek Balaji, a 2017 graduate who earned a bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology and a minor in management, was selected to deliver the student response at the commencement ceremony for the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and the College of Liberal Arts on May 13. Balaji spoke about a variety of experiences he had as a Purdue undergraduate and the lessons each situation taught him.

New Knoy rooftop solar array generates more power, learning opportunities and research
A state-of-the-art solar array used primarily for learning and research has been installed on Knoy Hall’s rooftop. The new 28-panel array replaces a 24-panel system installed 17 years ago. The new solar photovoltaic array, comprised of panels each roughly the same physical size as those previously installed, will generate nearly three times more electricity than the old array despite expanding by only four panels.

Darien Huss, a 2015 graduate of Purdue Polytechnic’s computer and information technology program, helped stop a worldwide cyberattack Friday (May 12).
The ransomware attack, dubbed “WannaCry” by security researchers, affected hundreds of thousands of Microsoft Windows-based computers in 150 countries by exploiting a flaw in the operating system.

Local law enforcement agencies collaborated with faculty and students in the Department of Computer and Information Technology, Discovery Park, and other units at Purdue to create the High Tech Crime Unit, and officials provided a first-ever public tour of their facility Thursday (May 11) to celebrate the partnership.
