Veto “Matt” Ray, teaching professor of facilities and construction management at Purdue University in Indianapolis, has been selected as the 2024 Illinois-Indiana Section Outstanding Teacher by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
The award is given by each ASEE section, with support, where possible, from local industry. The award focuses on outstanding classroom performance and recognizes teachers of engineering and engineering technology students, according to ASEE. It also serves as an incentive to make further significant contributions to teaching.
Ray has also been nominated for the 2025 ASEE National Outstanding Teacher award and invited to speak at the 2025 ASEE Illinois-Indiana Section meeting at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
