Eight pursue undergraduate research during summer
Participants in the inaugural Technology Undergraduate Research Fellowship (TURF), sponsored by the College of Technology, will showcase their research during Purdue’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) research symposium Wednesday, July 31.
Space for student teams
The planned Innovation Design Center (IDC) at Purdue will provide dedicated work space for student projects such as the EcoCAR 2, Solar Decathlon or Rube Goldberg competitions.
The first phase of the IDC, which will be located at Third and Russell Streets, will be coordinated by the colleges of Technology and Engineering.
Student researchers gain first-hand look at German manufacturing
Isaiah Butler and Hector Mena took in something extra during their spring break trip to Germany: behind-the-scenes tours at Germany manufacturers.
They combined their undergraduate research as part of the LSAMP undergraduate research program and the course MFET 49900 (Technology Innovation and Culture in Bavaria) during the weeklong trip to Germany over the spring break.
Six projects win awards at undergraduate research poster symposium
Six College of Technology projects won awards at the annual Undergraduate Research Poster Session March 26.

Student research on astronaut restraints published in JPUR
As part of their senior design course in aviation, three students undertook a project to design an electronic personal restraint system for NASA astronauts to use in microgravity environments. The design, created by Kevin Tait, Justin Lewis and Justin Hickel, would allow an astronaut to walk along a surface while being electromagnetically restrained to it. The system would also release the user in the event of power failure.
