Exoskeletons are utilized in a variety of working situations to assist the body's muscular support system to help prevent injuries. Due to the current expense of exoskeleton technology costing around $4,000, the majority of labor workers who need it most do not have access [1]. A Do-It-Yourself Exoskeleton prototype has been developed to provide a less expensive option in the market for muscular exoskeletons. The market for test benches within the industry is weak due to various exoskeleton designs and testing needs. Our clients DiY exoskeleton exclusively utilizes bands to capture and store energy as a person bends over. This creates a need for our project, which aims to create a test bench that tests the DiY exoskeleton prototype based on stiffness properties of the energy storage system for optimization purposes. The test bench will mimic the biomechanics of a human bending forward while wearing the exoskeleton prototype, allowing us to measure rotational motion and applied forces. This will benefit the end customer by having a way to test and optimize the performance of the energy storage mechanism.
