Milton Aguirre, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Purdue Polytechnic and is the founder of Livotion LLC, a healthcare technology startup. With over ten years of experience in market-oriented product design, he bridges academic research and entrepreneurship to develop practical health technologies for those in need.

Dr. Aguirre focuses on use-inspired compliant mechanism design, turning fundamental mechanics into commercially viable instruments that mimic human movement and stimulate cognitive and behavioral responses. His work spans three categories of healthcare devices: surgical, assistive, and wellness. His translational research has received funding from federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

As a postdoctoral researcher at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, Dr. Aguirre led multiple initiatives that brought concepts to market, securing intellectual property and investment for commercialization. He earned his graduate degrees from Penn State and has taught product development and creative mechanism design at both Penn State and Delft. At Purdue, he remains dedicated to teaching, collaboration, and creativity.
