Aviation Community Day 2025 brings together hundreds at Indianapolis Int. Airport site

Purdue Polytechnic in the Indianapolis International Airport hosted its seventh annual Aviation Community Day on July 12, in partnership with longtime academic program collaborators from Vincennes University’s aviation program.

Desiree Cochran, the site’s student affairs administrator, described the scope of this year’s event as such:

“We welcomed nearly 800 attendees and 20 industry partners and exhibitors this year. … The event is a great opportunity to connect with future aviators, showcase our Purdue 2+2 aviation program at the Indianapolis International Airport and support aviation education and outreach in our community. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for our industry partners to showcase their organization.”

Captain Ryan Lynch, who owns LiftOff Creamery, brought his ice cream truck and provided free ice cream. Liftoff is an aviation-themed ice cream store, and Lynch also offers youth mentorship opportunities through the NAYR Foundation, which he founded.

The free event was open to the general public of all ages and featured aircraft displays, facility tours, flight simulators and interactive presentations.
