Management of Disaster and Emergency Actions for Homeland Security

Course will focus on management of disaster and emergency action planning (DEAP) and continuity of operations (COOP), and will offer an interdisciplinary approach to address the special issues related to preventing, mitigating, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from major catastrophic events, both intentional and unintentional, that threaten the security and well-being of private and public sector resources and infrastructures. 

Prerequisites: Junior, Senior or Graduate level standing or consent of instructor. Must complete the following FEMA Independent Study courses prior to the first day of class: IS-100b – Introduction to the Incident Command System; IS-200b – Incident Command System for Single Resource and Initial Action Incidents; IS-700b – Introduction to National Incident Management System (NIMS); IS-800b – Introduction to the National Response Framework.
