Trevor Anderson is an Associate Professor, a biochemist and biochemistry education researcher in the Divisions of Chemical Education and Biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University, and a Senior Research Associate in the School of Life Science, University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He has been a member of the International Union for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) Educational Committee and the editorial board of “Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Education (BAMBEd)” for 15 years.

Amongst other awards, he was the recipient of the Monash University (Australia), Biomedical Sciences “Scholar in Residence in Education” award for 2007. Trevor has 20 years’ experience in science education research during which he graduated numerous doctoral and master’s students in the area of education across a wide range of disciplines including, biochemistry, chemistry, biology, molecular biology, microbiology, physics and mathematics. He has published widely in the above areas and has been invited to convene and present numerous plenary and keynote talks and workshops to the international scientific community. Central to his faculty development activities has been his workshops on scholarship, his design of curriculum change models, and his authorship of the Bridging-the-Gap series in BAMBEd aimed at encouraging scholarship in teaching and learning through the application of educational research to teaching practice. His Visualization in Biochemistry Education (VIBE) research group has a strong international flavor with various projects and collaborations with colleagues in Australia, Sweden, South Africa, Portugal, Brazil and the USA.  “Amongst other awards, he was the recipient of the 2013 Howard Barrows Award at McMaster University (Canada), “Recognizing outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions in education as scholars and teachers”, as well as the Monash University (Australia), Biomedical Sciences “Scholar in Residence in Education” award for 2007.
