Akdere named outstanding Purdue leader in Globalization

Mesut AkdereMesut Akdere, professor of human resource development in Purdue Polytechnic’s Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation, was honored by Purdue’s Office of Global Partnerships (OGP) with the 2021 Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Award for faculty.

The OGP is a division of Purdue’s Office of Research & Partnerships, which advances innovation, research, education and commercialization by connecting the University with companies, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations and domestic and international universities.

The Outstanding Leadership in Globalization award celebrates Purdue faculty that excel and lead by example through their global impact in learning, discovery and engagement. Akdere is the third recipient of this award and the first from the Purdue Polytechnic Institute.

“Mesut has accomplished great things for the Polytechnic and Purdue, particularly in the intercultural competency space," said Mike Brzezinski, dean of international programs. “Many students and faculty colleagues at Purdue have benefited from his work. His ability to create and deliver these unique experiences is admirable.”

“Mesut represents the Polytechnic so well, both at home and abroad,” said Elizabeth Barajas, director of the Office of Globalization. “We thank him for his time, dedication, innovation and the opportunities he provides to our students and stakeholders. We look forward to many more years of collaborations and impact.”
