Two professors from the Department of Computer and Information Technology (CIT) and Sakhi Aggrawal, now a CIT PhD graduate, recently presented on the topic of AI to more than 175 people at the 2024 Building Business Capability conference in Orlando, Florida. The conference was organized by the International Institute of Business Analysis.

Kevin Dittman, an associate professor, and Paul Thomas, a clinical assistant professor, teamed up with Aggrawal to present to business analysts, project managers, and other conference attendees interested in expanding their use of AI tools at work. Audience members had varying degrees of experience working with AI tools, ranging from complete novices to those who leverage AI on a daily basis for work-related tasks.

Their presentation explored the capabilities of ChatGPT and shared practical guidance on how to incorporate it into existing business analysis workflows. They provided real-world examples of ChatGPT’s application in business analysis along with chat prompts to help business analysts get more efficient, accurate, and consistent answers. They also fielded questions from the audience about security and ethical concerns associated with utilizing AI tools in business workflows.
