High schoolers from all over Indiana recently converged at Allison Transmission's Demonstration Track in Indianapolis for an all-electric go-kart test session. For many of the teams joining Purdue's evGrandPrix "Test and Tune" events this season, this is their high school's first experience with electric vehicle design, and they have no plans of slowing down.

Purdue Polytechnic's James Tanoos turned the tables on his students this semester by giving them the opportunity to be consultants. Students got to use their expertise learned in class and beyond to help two businesses, by and for Boilermakers, persistently pursue their goals with the latest strategic approaches.

Purdue Polytechnic and the College of Engineering celebrated the dedication of Dudley and Lambertus Halls, the Engineering & Polytechnic Gateway Complex. The state-of-the-art $140 million complex, built during the last three years, opened in January 2023. It is now home to new laboratories for the Polytechnic’s School of Construction Management Technology, School of Engineering Technology, Department of Computer and Information Technology and Department of Computer Graphics Technology, plus faculty offices and numerous labs and offices for the College of Engineering.

During the five-year period that ended in spring 2020, Purdue conferred the most doctoral degrees to Black graduate students in engineering-related technology and several other disciplines, as compared with its peer R1 research institutions nationally and in the Big Ten.

Technology is one of modern language’s most-used words. It also is one of the most vague and least understood.

Merriam-Webster defines “technology” as “the practical application of knowledge, especially in a particular area,” but that definition leaves a lot open to interpretation.

The second annual Engineering Technology Pathways summit on food security brought together faculty, staff and students from Purdue University and Ivy Tech Community College with industry and government representatives March 20.

The Engineering Technology Pathways: Food and Foodstuff Supply Chain project is the first engineering technology program in which a community college and major land grant research university offer articulated degrees with a concentration in the food and foodstuff supply chain.
