Ph.D. research assistant positions with full financial support are available in the SIMU Lab. The admitted students are expected to work with Dr. Chengcheng Tao.

Research Area:

  • Computational fluid dynamics on the rheology of non-Newtonian fluids, multi-phase flow, heat transfer modeling
  • ​Computational mechanics of materials, finite element analysis, multi-scale modeling
  • ​Multi-functional infrastructure materials, sustainable construction materials and manufacturing process
  • Fluid-structure interaction modeling in infrastructure resilience to natural hazards (wind, flood, etc)
  • Multi-objective optimization and machine learning applications in infrastructure materials and resilience

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, or other closely related fields
  • Strong background in mathematics/mechanics, solid programming skills
  • Students with publication records/research experience are preferred
  • Good oral and written communication skills and strong self-motivation
  • English requirement: ​TOEFL 80 (Writing:18, Speaking:18, Listening:14, Reading:19), or IELTS 6.5 (Reading: 6.5, Listening: 6, Speaking: 6, Writing: 5.5), or Duolingo: 115 (115 on each subscore)
  • GRE score is not required at this time
