Thomas Lucas, an assistant professor of practice at Purdue Polytechnic in New Albany, has received the IMPACT Festival of Teaching and Learning Award from Purdue's Center for Instructional Excellence.
Lucas presented his work at the Festival of Teaching and Learning in 2025, where he showcased the innovative ideas and practices that he has developed in data analysis and AI integration. He was also awarded $1,000 to recognize and promote innovation in instruction.
"I feel so inspired by the teaching and learning work happening all over our university," Lucas said. "I am thankful for the opportunity to attend the Festival of Teaching and Learning and to be connected to the Purdue community of passionate educators."
The Festival of Teaching and Learning provides an opportunity for faculty to demonstrate projects from the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and present their SoTL work at Purdue. Faculty engage in research-based innovations through their courses with the intent of improving student learning. Purdue supports educators planning, implementing and disseminating scholarly investigation related to enhancing teaching practice across the disciplines through its SoTL fellowship and other funded programs.
Congratulations, Professor Lucas, for your incredible dedication to enriching teaching and learning at Purdue Polytechnic!
