Purdue Polytechnic in Richmond celebrates 57th commencement ceremony

 

Purdue Polytechnic in Richmond proudly celebrated its 57th Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, May 14, honoring the graduating Class of 2024–25. The ceremony took place at 4:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond, Indiana, recognizing the achievements of students earning degrees in Computer Graphics and Engineering Technologies.

The event began with an invocation led by Shannon Milnickel, Bachelor of Science degree recipient in Industrial Engineering Technology.

Melissa Vance, President and CEO of the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, delivered the keynote address. She shared congratulatory remarks and encouraged graduates to stay engaged in the community as young professionals, emphasizing the importance of retaining local talent in Wayne and surrounding counties.

Christy Tollett, Richmond Site Director, served as Master of Ceremonies. She highlighted the graduating class’s collaboration with regional industry partners and celebrated the 64% of graduates who are First-Generation college students—commending both the students and their families for this significant milestone.

Adam Savage, graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, delivered the class response. He reflected on the cohort’s shared journey of blending technology with creativity and driving innovation within the field of engineering.

Dr. Rex Kanu presided over the conferral of degrees, with Michele Walker, Continuing Lecturer, presenting the graduating class. Dr. James Maley welcomed the new graduates into the Purdue Alumni Association and introduced them to the broader Purdue for Life Foundation network.

Degrees were awarded in Computer Graphics Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Purdue Polytechnic in Richmond, part of a statewide system of nine locations, emphasizes hands-on learning and industry-relevant education, preparing graduates for immediate employment and career growth in various sectors.
