Our Shared Values

Organizational units can be distinguished based on the values that their members share. The faculty and staff in the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology share the following values:

  • Academic Excellence: Academic quality is at the heart of any university experience. We believe that it is our responsibility to provide the best possible educational experience—both in and out of the classroom—to our students so they are fully prepared to address the grand challenges of the aerospace industry.
  • Continuous Improvement: In order to remain at the leading edge of our profession, we must continuously evolve and improve. We are committed to reviewing our curricula, pedagogy, technology, core competencies, student outcomes, and other key performance indicators to ensure that our programs remain at the forefront of excellence.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Purdue University faculty, staff, and students are always happy to collaborate with internal and external colleagues. We are engaged in numerous interdisciplinary research projects, corporate-sponsored projects, and capstone projects that rely heavily on working in teams, leveraging each other’s strengths and delivering award-winning products/services.
  • Value Creation: Our faculty and staff are committed to ensuring that our students receive the most value out of their education at Purdue. Our industry partnerships, research projects, classroom experience, and laboratory exercises are all geared toward creating a distinctive value proposition—we want to make sure that our students are highly competitive in the global aerospace workforce.

Everything we do revolves around enacting one or more of the above shared values.
