The 2016-2017 academic year marks the fourth year for the School of Engineering Technology. After the 2013 merger of the departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology, we are a true combination of faculty and staff dedicated to the success of our students and alumni.
The integration of the two departments continues to be guided by our Industry Advisory Boards. Their consistent message is this: ensure our programs emulate the current job market partnership between electrical and mechanical engineers while exploring more interdisciplinary options. New programs in fields such as robotics, mechatronics and energy can help our students stand out even more when they are entering the workforce. The mix of disciplines remains a strong focus in our manufacturing engineering technology program.
The Purdue Polytechnic Institute is focused on the transformation of the learning experience. What, where, and how we teach is being scrutinized to empower student learning and retention. The School of Engineering Technology is fully engaged in this transformation. While the pace is quick, the rapid change is bringing a sense of vibrancy and energy to the faculty, staff, and students. It is a great time to be in the college.
It is also an exciting time for the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the School of Engineering Technology. We strive to communicate this excitement through the Purdue Polytechnic and Purdue University web pages and in other printed materials. As always, questions and comments are welcome, so please feel free to contact me with any you may have about the School of Engineering Technology.
