In what language will the courses be taught?

The Purdue M.S. degree will be taught in English.

Will funding be available?

The Purdue M.S. degree is a fee based program and no research assistantship and teaching assistantship positions will be available. We are working on finding funding options for our students.

What are the application deadlines?

Fall Deadline: July 15 ; Spring deadline: November 15

Do I have to apply separately to all three programs?

Yes, and admittance to one of the programs does not guarantee admittance to the other portions of the dual degree program.

What is the cost of the program?

The Purdue M.S. program will cost approximately $40,000. Each credit hour will be $1150 and there are 33 credits in the program.

Do I have to complete all three portions of the program?

You are not required to complete all parts of the program, but it is highly recommended.  You are required to complete the Bridging Program prior to being admitted to the Purdue M.S. degree.  Upon completion of the M.S. degree at Purdue, you are allowed to seek employment opportunities in in the U.S. or return to Tsinghua to complete the Master in Engineering Management degree.

Do I have to complete a research thesis?

No, it is possible to complete a directed research project instead.

What kind of topics are available for the research thesis?

Who will advise my thesis?

You can choose a faculty member from Purdue who is either involved in the program or involved in research related to your area of interest to advise your thesis, with the chance to have professors from Tsinghua University as your co-advisors.. You will also have the opportunity to work with internationally recognized researchers affiliated with the Research Center for Open Digital Innovation.

What if I do not have any programming skills?

While some programming experience is recommended for the program, it is not a requirement.

What are the English language proficiency requirements for entering the program? Is there any flexibility for Chinese applicants?

To enter the bridging program, the English language requirements are somewhat flexible. However, to be admitted to the Purdue M.S. program, students must meet a minimum score of 77 on the TOEFL test (IELTS will also be accepted as proof of language proficiency).
