Richmond now offers computer graphics bachelor's degree

A new bachelor’s degree and minor at Purdue’s College of Technology at Richmond is expanding education and career options for students in east central Indiana and west central Ohio.

The new bachelor of science degree in computer graphics technology will serve two populations. First, it offers recent high school graduates the only publicly supported four-year degree in the field in the region. Second, students who have already completed an associate degree in the field will be able to enhance their career options with additional education.

Advanced Aviation Analytics Institute for Research

The Advanced Aviation Analytics Institute for Research (A³IR- CORE), a University-level Center of Research Excellence that resides in the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, is focused on the dual mission of solving industry problems and providing educational experiences for students by actively involving both graduate and undergraduate student researchers working closely with faculty mentors in a highly-collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

In the news: firefighting robot tested in Illinois fire

Researchers in the Department of Computer and Information Technology got their first look at their firefighting robot at work in a real firefighting situation Thursday (June 20).

They confirmed that its size and remote-controlled nature make it very helpful in dangerous situations. And they also found some flaws that will need to be addressed.

Researchers involved in the project include lead Eric Matson, Eric Dietz, and Anthony Smith.
