Yearlong competition proves digital forensics savviness

Competing against military and industry experts, as well as independent specialists, a four-person team from the College of Technology placed fifth in the yearlong international 2013 DC3 Digital Forensics Challenge.

In addition, they were the top team in the graduate school category. The team, known as Or11, included computer and information technology graduate students William Ellis, Jacob Kambic, Eric Katz and Sydney Liles. The competition attracted more than 1,200 teams.

Technology Alumni Board seeks new members

The Purdue Technology Alumni Board (PTAB), a group of dedicated and loyal Purdue University alumni and friends, is currently accepting applications and nominations for new members.

The purpose of the alumni board is to promote and support the College of Technology, to promote communication between the school and its alumni, to provide programs for professional growth for alumni, to provide a means for mutual assistance between the college and its alumni and to enhance alumni relationships with the University and the Purdue Alumni Association.

Chopra wins ATMAE research award

Shweta Chopra, a graduate student in the Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation, received the first place award for graduate research at the recent ATMAE Annual Conference.

Chopra was honored for her dissertation research into the rice supply chain in India, her home country. Her ultimate goal is to improve the way rice is distributed, from the growers to consumers, while eliminating corruption and waste. Her research is ongoing.

School of Engineering Technology approved

The Purdue University Board of Trustees Saturday (Dec. 14) approved the creation of the School of Engineering Technology within the College of Technology. It will combine the strengths and degree programs of two departments: Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology.

The degree programs from the former departments will remain. In addition, a master of science degree in engineering technology has been proposed as the first new offering by the school.
