ProSTAR profiles: Mark Schuver

Mark Schuver, associate director of ProSTAR, has been involved with the college's professional education programs since 2002, making him ProSTAR's most experienced resource. Mark’s first mission was to develop and grow our original Weekend Master’s Program. He also established an in-house program with Rolls-Royce that continues today with its fourth master’s cohort. He also teaches in the College of Technology.

Air Race Classic pilots ready for competition

Chantel Steele and Amanda Keck, professional flight majors in the College of Technology, left yesterday (June 12) to represent Purdue in the Air Race Classic flight competition. The race starts June 19.

They will be assisted by a ground crew at the Purdue University Airport.

Professor Bowen receives award for excellence in distance learning

Erin Bowen, assistant professor in Technology Leadership and Innovation, received the Purdue Award for Excellence in Distance Learning in April 2012.  She received this award for her outstanding efforts in her Measurement and Evaluation for Industry and Technology course, offered for online graduate degrees by the Center for Professional Studies in Technology and Applied Research (ProSTAR) master’s program.

Purdue professor encourages diversity in technology

Brandeis Marshall, an assistant professor in the department of Computer and Information Technology, participated in the planning of two conferences that took place in April 2012. Marshall was on the planning committee for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathemics (STEM) Women of Color Conference that was held April 1-3 at Purdue University. She was also a co-organizer for the Broadening Participation in Data Mining (BPDM) Workshop that was held in Anaheim, Calif., April 27-28.

Richmond location to showcase programs

Area residents and potential college students are invited to a Purdue Showcase June 19 at Purdue’s College of Technology at Richmond.

Between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m., students and parents will be able to tour the Purdue facilities in Tom Raper Hall on the IU-East campus. They will learn about the Purdue degree options available in Richmond and related career options.

Faculty and staff will be available to answer questions, and organizers have planned a contest for prizes.

BCM showcases local deep-energy retrofit project

For several Saturdays this summer, a transformed house will be open to the public to showcase energy efficient improvements for existing homes.

The house, located at 2150 Ulen Lane in Lafayette, will be open every Saturday, June 9-July 28, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

A joint effort between the City of Lafayette and Purdue’s Department of Building Construction Management in the College of Technology, the project is considered a deep-energy retrofit. The project was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and Neighborhood Sustainability Program funds.
