Keynote address by Rick Schooler
Vice President and CIO Orlando Health
Rick Schooler joined Orlando Health in 2001. He is responsible for information technology, telecommunications, clinical informatics, enterprise analytics and quality reporting, biomedical engineering, supply chain, retail pharmacy and a group purchasing organization. Prior to joining Orlando Health, he was the vice president and CIO for Central Georgia Health System. He has also served as director of systems integration for the Methodist Hospital of Indiana, and in various capacities at Ameritech, General Dynamics, and Computer Systems Corporation.
Schooler earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis and his bachelor's degree in computer technology from Purdue's College of Technology in 1982. He is a member of: American College of Healthcare Executives (Fellow), College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (Lifetime Member, Fellow and former Board Member) and the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (Fellow and Board Member.) He is also a Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO.)
He serves on the board of directors of the Coalition for the Homeless (Orlando), Orlando Health Central Hospital and the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS.) He is also a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for the Purdue University Department of Computer and Information Technology, the KLAS CIO Advisory Board, the Healthcare Informatics magazine Editorial Board and the University of Central Florida Regional Extension Center (REC) advisory board.
