The Purdue Polytechnic Office of Globalization has worked and continues working to identify strategic partner institutions in other countries. In order to be identified as a strategic partner, a university must exhibit certain criteria that make the relationship mutually beneficial sustainable. Among these criteria the partner institution must offer instruction in English to both their foreign and domestic student populations.
To best benefit Polytechnic students the partner institution will ideally align with at least three of the Polytechnic Institute programs. This is a goal that helps the maximum number of Purdue Polytechnic students interact with the strategic partner institution even if they do not study in the same program. For very special technical expertise, single department level strategic partners exist to create one-of-a-kind relationships to pursue opportunities that would not be possible without one another involved.
Global experiences for Polytechnic students is a priority for the Office of Globalization and strategic partner institutions must provide administrative support for student and faculty exchanges. Every university and every country are different and therefore a support network is crucial for successful programs. Along with having a strong support at the university, our strategic partner institutions are located in economically vibrant and secure regions of the world that will foster learning and cultural growth for all involved.
A strong partnership between institutions functions at the college level as well as university wide. We seek strategic partnerships that provide collaborative growth potential within the Purdue Polytechnic as well as across the Purdue University campus. This allows both institutions to provide potential for multi-level collaborative activities including research, both short and long term study abroad, as well as faculty exchanges.
To date we have established partner locations on all inhabitable continents. We continue to work to develop new and improve already existing partnerships for not just Purdue Polytechnic students and faculty, but students and faculty from all corners of the globe.
