Dyrenfurth to share engineering workforce insights at workshop

Michael Dyrenfurth, professor of technology leadership and innovation, will participate in a National Academy of Engineering (NAE) fact-finding workshop on engineering education November 19. The event will be webcast November 19 and November 20.

Dyrenfurth and other participants on the panel will discuss connections between engineering education, the engineering workforce, and the employment of engineering talent throughout the U.S. economy.

Study highlights importance of internships in college

While college graduates who had on-the-job training or an internship double their odds of being fully engaged at work, only one in three students actually had these important experiences, according to the Gallup-Purdue Index. The findings highlight the importance of internship-related programs at Purdue University and the need to continue development of similar opportunities.

National automation contest expands with help of two professors

Two Purdue University College of Technology professors have been instrumental in expanding the Phoenix Contact Nanoline Contest for middle and high school students to new regions of the country. The contest gives teams a chance to learn about STEM, acquire technology at no cost, and create a product by using the technology to build a functional, automated system.
