Hard to believe, but it has finally arrived! The fall semester is beginning to ramp up, and it is truly exciting. I don’t ever tire of it. The campus is bustling with activity, the football team is practicing everyday now and I have even heard the deep bellowing sound of our own Purdue Boilermaker Special as it cruises around campus. It truly doesn’t get any better than this!
Purdue Polytechnic wins $500,000 award for competency-based degree
Purdue University president Mitch Daniels awarded $500,000 to the College of Technology and Purdue Polytechnic Institute to create the University's first competency-based degree program. The announcement was made during a Sept. 4 news conference on campus.

Two profs honored with Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award
Two long-time faculty in the Department of Aviation Technology were honored with the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award August 27, 2014.
Larry Gross, associate professor, and retired professor Mitch Grundman were honored locally at a reception at the Purdue University Airport.
South Bend location touts STEM subjects locally
Purdue College of Technology South Bend is proving that the key to engaging more students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is through direct activities, such as its electric go-kart summer camp and high school class demonstrations.
New course aimed at local business marketing, graphic design
A new professional development course, Graphic Design and Marketing for Business, will be offered this fall by Purdue College of Technology at Richmond in collaboration with the Uptown Innovation Center. The one-credit course will focus on design theories, branding, logo design and corporate identity packages using software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
The course was conceived by Sarah George, assistant professor of computer graphics, after receiving requests from area business owners.
Richmond location awards $26,000 in scholarships
Purdue College of Technology at Richmond awarded $26,470 in scholarships to local students for the 2014-15 academic year.

Homecoming weekend
Come celebrate all things Purdue during the annual Homecoming festivities! The Purdue Alumni Association will kick off the weekend, hosting a Purdue Alumni Student Experience (PASE) Networking Dinner September 25, followed by a day full of events: annual Alumni Club Leaders Conference, tours of campus, and a 50-year class recognition at the celebration dinner. Cap off the evening by watching the Homecoming parade.
Then bright and early on Saturday, September 27, join the College of Technology at our tent along Stadium Mall Drive from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the Purdue vs. Iowa game. Technology Homecoming info and links to full events.
