Top research project diminishes simulator sickness in games
A research project to reduce simulator sickness in virtual reality games took top honors for the College of Technology in the recent DiscoverU Undergraduate Research and Poster Symposium.
Seventeen College of Technology projects were entered into the annual event. The top three projects from each college received cash awards.
AITP students win awards at national conference
Members of the Purdue chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) won several awards at the 2014 National Collegiate Conference in Atlanta April 10-13.
Thayer named Outstanding Future Educator
Hilde Thayer is one of five Purdue students named Outstanding Future Educators in Indiana for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Thayer, from Lafayette, Ind., is majoring in engineering/technology teacher education.
Pingpong gun featured by Science Channel program
The supersonic pingpong gun created by researchers in the College of Technology will be featured on the Science Channel this weekend (April 12-13, 2014).
"Outrageous Acts of Science" will air its piece on the pingpong gun as part of its "Masters of the Universe" episode. It is scheduled three times during the weekend, including its premiere at 10:00 p.m. (Eastern/Pacific)
The project was created by mechanical engineering technology professor Mark French and his graduate students, Craig Zehrung and Jim Stratton.

Degree program named Program of Excellence
Purdue's computer and information technology degree program concentration in network engineering technology has been recognized as a Program of Excellence by the Information and Telecommunications Education and Research Association (ITERA). The degree program is offered by the College of Technology.
Herrick to be honored with ASEE McGraw Award
Robert Herrick will receive the 2014 ASEE James H. McGraw Award during the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition in Indianapolis in June 2014. The Robert A. Hoffer Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering Technology, Herrick is being recognized for his many distinguished accomplishments and outstanding service in engineering technology education.
Sadowski named ASEE fellow
Mary Sadowski, dean of Purdue Extended Campus and professor of computer graphics technology, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). She will be recognized at the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition in Indianapolis in June 2014.
