School of Engineering Technology approved

The Purdue University Board of Trustees Saturday (Dec. 14) approved the creation of the School of Engineering Technology within the College of Technology. It will combine the strengths and degree programs of two departments: Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology.

The degree programs from the former departments will remain. In addition, a master of science degree in engineering technology has been proposed as the first new offering by the school.

Robots are now part of the firefighting squad at the Purdue University Fire Department.

Korean technology, combined with great innovation and input from Eric Matson, associate professor of computer and information technology, has led to a new breakthrough in fire fighting technology.

CoT helps United Way reach campaign goal

The United Way of Greater Lafayette exceeded its 2013 campaign fundraising goal of $4.9 million.

Faculty, staff and students within the College of Technology contributed $15,604 to the Purdue University total of $755,000.

Devona Gangwer, administrative assistant for the Office of Academic Affairs and Diversity, was the 2013 chairperson for the college's campaign. Janet Ebershoff, assistant to the dean, was co-chair.
