Abilene Perez, a junior in user experience (UX) design, was awarded first place at the 2017 Intern Project Fair during her internship at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Houston, Texas.
CareerMakers workforce development site to launch at WestGate@Crane
WestGate @ Crane Technology Park will become the first of several CareerMakers sites throughout Indiana, according to Geanie Umberger, associate dean for engagement. CareerMakers is a workforce development facilitator to help businesses develop and maintain the workforces they need. Consultation, assessments, education, workshops, and trainings are among the services offered by the program.
STEM Lesson Plan: Flying Tumblewing

New Major Spotlight: Design and Construction Integration
The School of Construction Management Technology introduced design and construction integration, a new undergraduate major which combines design and construction with project delivery methods. The major is designed to prepare graduates for careers in an industry which is rapidly changing with new technologies and materials.
PLTW CEO emphasized professional growth for K-12 teachers during Purdue visit
Vince Bertram, president and CEO of PLTW, and more than 180 teachers attended PLTW Core Training sessions last summer at Purdue's West Lafayette campus. The professional development series for K-12 teachers helps them gain skills to take back to their own classrooms in Indiana and beyond.

Robert Steele, a senior in construction management technology, was introduced by the Purdue Student Union Board as the 2017 Homecoming King on Saturday (September 23).
Professor awarded Frank E. Sorenson Award for Excellence in Aviation
Mary E. Johnson, associate professor of aviation technology, has been awarded the Frank E. Sorenson Award for Excellence in Aviation by the University Aviation Association. Johnson is the fourth faculty member from Purdue University to receive this recognition, making Purdue faculty the most frequently awarded.
