Congresswoman visits Purdue Polytechnic Anderson

Susan W. Brooks, member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana’s 5th district, visited Purdue Polytechnic Anderson’s new facility Monday (April 17). The congresswoman toured academic areas as well as the Maker Space, an area for fostering start-up companies.

Brooks noted the facility’s 3-D printing lab, CNC (computer numerical control) machines, metalworking equipment, and other tools available to students and entrepreneurs.

Purdue Polytechnic South Bend reminds prospective students of local degree opportunities

Purdue Polytechnic's South Bend location is reminding prospective students in northern Indiana that it's possible to attend a Big Ten university while staying close to home.

"I came to Purdue South Bend to get my degree so I could get a good job," said Tek Lentine, a mechanical engineering technology graduate. "I [got] the quality and respect of a Purdue education without having to relocate."

Trustees approve multidisciplinary technology degree for Statewide

Purdue University’s Board of Trustees on Friday (April 8) endorsed a new Purdue Polytechnic Institute bachelor’s degree to be offered at its statewide locations that would allow industry partners to aid in customizing degree options to better suit the educational needs of their employees.

The Purdue Polytechnic Statewide network program would offer a bachelor of science degree in multidisciplinary technology at all of its locations outside of the West Lafayette campus.

South Bend adds MET bachelor's degree

Purdue College of Technology South Bend now offers a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology (MET).

Purdue is the only public institution in the Michiana area offering this degree. Many local companies wrote letters of support to offer the degree in South Bend because of the demand for graduates in the community. More than 80 percent of Purdue's South Bend graduates remain in the area working for local companies.
