MSAAM Electronic Plan of Study Checksheet

ELECTRONIC PLAN OF STUDY REQUIREMENTS

We encourage students to have a draft PLAN OF STUDY on file by the end of their first semester. In order to graduate, the Graduate School REQUIRES that an approved Plan of Study be on file, in FINAL form, before the start of the final semester of study (refer to the Graduation Deadlines Calendar).

  • No undergraduate courses in (300 & 400) primary area without permission from your major advisor. These may only be used with such permission and only when followed by appropriate 500-and 600 level courses. Such permissions should be indicated in a Special Note on the EPOS. Note that no more than 6 semester hours of 300 – 400 level courses may be approved and a grade of “B” or better is required. On combined degree programs, only 500 and 600 level courses are allowed.
  • Maximum of 12 total credits earned as undergraduate credit excess, post-baccalaureate, and combined degree graduate courses taken as an undergraduate.
  • Maximum of 6 semester hours of independent study (AT 590 / 690).

For non-thesis option:

  • Includes 30 semester credit hours of coursework in the table portion of approved EPOS.
  • AT 505 and AT 507 (with potential substitutions of AT507 with: IT 507, STAT 501, STAT 502, STAT 511, or STAT 512).
  • A minimum of 12 credit hours from AT courses in addition to AT 505 and AT 507 must be satisfied.

For thesis option:

  • Includes 24 semester credit hours of coursework in the table portion of approved EPOS.
  • TECH 646 and AT 507 (with potential substitutions of AT507 with: IT 507, STAT 501, STAT 502, STAT 511, or STAT 512).
  • AT 698 should NOT be listed in the EPOS regular coursework table section as it is for MS thesis research and is not coursework. Only courses you receive a letter grade in are to be listed there in the coursework table. Two semesters of AT 698 is required.  AT 698 is typically taken as 2 semester credit hours for the thesis proposal defense and research, and 4 semester credit hours for the thesis research and defense.
  • A minimum of 12 course credit hours in AT other than AT698 research hours.
  • Chair and first member of Advisory Committee must be graduate faculty in SATT.
