Students invited to open forum with dean

All College of Technology students are invited to a forum with Gary Bertoline, dean of the college, October 30.

Sponsored by the Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Council (DUAC), the forum will give students a chance to provide feedback about their experiences and ask questions about the college’s future.

The forum will be in Stewart Center, Room 218D, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Aviation management students in finals of Boeing competition

Five aviation management students are competing in the finals of the first Boeing Company Business Case Competition this weekend.

The competition, between teams from Purdue University and the University of Illinois, asks students to apply their knowledge of supply chains, finance and LEAN concepts to industry problems.

Eight Purdue teams competed for the chance to travel to Seattle to present their solution. SkyTeam, the winning team, consisted of all aviation management majors: Amber Lloyd, Chris Webb, Dan Wiggins, Tracey Guerrero and Bellamy Oon.

FSF’s Burin shares aviation safety info with student chapter

James Burin, director of technical programs at Flight Safety Foundation (FSF), spoke to Purdue aviation students and local aviation enthusiasts Oct. 11.

Burin discussed global aviation safety performance, current industry safety and economic trends, as well as about collaborative research programs between the FSF  student chapter at Purdue and industry

Purdue’s all-woman team wins Stryker Engineering Challenge

An all-woman team from Purdue won the third annual Stryker Engineering Challenge Sept. 27-28 at Stryker Medical in Portage, Mich.

Team members were Bakytgul Khaday, Gwenlynn Schroeder, Sarah Small and Rachel Lindsay. Khaday and Schroeder are electrical engineering technology majors, and Small and Lindsay are mechanical engineering majors.

International Construction Management experience set in Ireland

James Jenkins, associate professor of building construction management, will lead the 2013 International Construction Management Study Abroad experience to Ireland in May. He has offered study abroad courses to Ireland since 2009, and he also participated in a faculty exchange with the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) during Fall 2009.
