Spring 2012 Innovation set for May delivery
Robots and related intelligent systems will be part of a majority of homes within the next 15 years, according to Eric Matson, assistant professor of computer and information technology. His research and new Man to Machine (M2M) lab in the College of Technology are featured in the Spring 2012 edition of Innovation, the college’s alumni magazine. In the News: Purdue students touring Japan
Twenty Purdue students, including one from Technology, are in Japan through March 19 to learn about the country as well as its recovery efforts from last year's tsunami. Read more.
Getting to know Daphene Koch
Lafayette native Daphene Koch, assistant professor of building construction management, returned to the area when she joined the faculty at Purdue University in 2006. She is the first woman tenure-track professor in the department. Prior to her appointment at Purdue, she was a faculty member at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis for five years. She also has over 10 years of experience in the mechanical and industrial construction industry.

AT student creates spirit on campus and beyond
Jim Mlynarski, a graduate student in aviation technology, is profiled on this month’s “Five Students who are Spirit Makers” feature on the Purdue Web site. Purdue EcoCAR 2 team announces architecture
The 15 teams in the EcoCAR 2 competition have unveiled their vehicle designs. Purdue is one of four teams that will use a Parallel through the Road (PTTR) architecture. Purdue's team brings together students from the colleges of Technology and Engineering to convert a General Motors-donated 2012 Chevrolet Malibu into a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. PTTR uses an on-board battery to reduce fuel use. The battery can be recharged using a standard wall outlet. Once the plug-in range of the battery is depleted the vehicle can still operate as a regular hybrid.
2012 Tech Week celebrates innovative mindset
The innovative mindset will be showcased during the sixth annual Tech Week hosted by Purdue's College of Technology. Events are planned April 14-20. Following the week's theme, "Relevant. Responsive. Results.", Deborah Wince-Smith, CEO and president of the Council on Competitiveness, will headline the week's activities. She will discuss "Technology and the U.S. Innovation Imperative" during the Dean's Distinguished Lecture April 18.
Fourteen alumni to be honored
The slate of College of Technology alumni awards has been expanded to include three levels this year. Fourteen alumni will be honored in 2012 as Distinguished Technology Alumni, Outstanding Technology Alumni or Early Career Award recipients. Award recipients will be honored on campus Friday, April 20. Wherever they are in their career paths, the honorees have harnessed the power of their Purdue degrees to positively impact their chosen professions.
