Getting to know David Whittinghill

David Whittinghill, assistant professor of computer graphics technology and computer and information technology, joined the Purdue faculty ranks in 2009. Prior to that, he worked in the defense industry as a senior developer leading user-interface design teams. He has also gained extensive industry experience in the fields of visualization, agent-based modeling, digital anti-tampering, and web development. His expertise is in computer programming. He earned his doctorate, master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Purdue.

'Undercover Boss' gives advice to BCM students

Building construction management students offered knowing laughs as Belfor Restoration’s CEO reacted to the hands-on jobs he was asked to do as part of the reality TV show “Undercover Boss.” Belfor’s Sheldon Yellen visited campus Monday (January 23) to discuss how his appearance on the television show affected the way he leads his company, which is the world’s largest disaster restoration construction company. His presentation, part of a building construction management class, included clips from the TV appearance.

College launches Center for Technology Development

A new center at Purdue University has been designed to work with industry partners to develop and improve technologies that, in turn, will lead to increased competitiveness. The Center for Technology Development, headquartered in the College of Technology, was officially launched Wednesday (January 11) with the signing of a charter by the directors and founding members. The center will involve professors, graduate students and undergraduates from the colleges of Technology and Engineering.

Getting to know Mike Dyrenfurth

Michael Dyrenfurth, professor in the Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation, has been at Purdue since 2001. He joined the College of Technology administration as the assistant dean for graduate studies to help reinstitute the college’s doctoral program. He returned to full-time teaching in the Department of Industrial Technology (now TLI) in 2005.
