Sukumar focuses on athlete's spatial ability, not tuition bill

Karthik Sukumar splits his time between teaching, taking classes and completing his master’s thesis on spatial ability in athletes. It doesn’t leave much time for other activities or part-time jobs.

Which is why he is thankful for the funding he receives as a teaching assistant and the Sriver Graduate Scholarship in Computer Graphics Technology. “It is so important. I don't have to worry about the money aspect,” Sukumar said. “I can focus on what I came here to do.”

CoT Research Hub ready for visitors

Knoy 366A is the college's new Research Hub, offering several resources for faculty working on research, both for research publications and sponsored research proposals. Edie Schmidt, interim associate dean for research, and three part-time staff members have been working to create a welcoming space where collaboration and curiosity are encouraged. Yogurt, pretzels, almonds and crackers are available as well as teas and coffee.

Elsner's support aimed at updated instruction, scholarships

The first course on microprocessors in the College of Technology was offered during Jim Elsner’s senior year. Now microprocessors are everywhere.

Just as the curriculum responded to the needs of industry in 1976, Elsner wants to make sure the College of Technology continues to offer the most up-to-date instruction to keep students prepared for a changing workplace. That’s one reason he and his wife, Debbie, support the College of Technology through charitable contributions.
