The MS degree in CGT is highly flexible and enables students to focus in one of the areas below and to create an individualized plan of study.
Computer graphics programming prepares students for jobs in research and development on computer graphics topics such as mgeometric and procedural modeling, object reconstruction, GPU-oriented computing, real-time computer graphics, and simulations. Our alumni have found jobs in major companies and research labs such as Adobe, Apple, DreamWorks, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Samsung, Siemens, and Square Enix.
Game studies focuses on the technical, aesthetic, and usability dimensions of video game design and development. The CGT Game Studies track is a research-oriented program in which students develop innovative original productions complemented by academic scholarship. Alumni have been gone on to both animation and gaming companies such as Disney, Volition Deep Silver, Sony, Avalanche, Naughty Dog, Activision and many others.

The human centered design and development (HCDD) specialization prepares students for careers in user experience (UX) and doctoral studies in human-computer interaction (HCI). Students learn methods, principles and theories of design. Human-centered design aims to create products and services that are “user-friendly.” HCDD at Purdue combines knowledge of technology, human nature, as well as visual and written communication to create products and services with graphical user interfaces that are easy and fun to use. The study of HCDD ranges from applied product design to theoretical and methodological reflection and innovation. Alumni have been successful working in UX at companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Google, Disney, Salesforce, and others.
Information visualization and visual analytics studies the (interactive) visual representations of abstract data, scientific data, and other sources of information to reinforce human cognition. outgrowth of the fields of information visualization and scientific visualization, visual analytics focuses on analytical reasoning facilitated by interactive visual interfaces.

Virtual and Augmented Reality focuses on applied research and development in the fields of virtual and augmented reality. The CGT VR/AR track is a research-oriented program in which students develop innovative original productions complemented by academic scholarship. Students and faculty frequently closely collaborate with the Purdue Envision Center for Perceptualization, a world-class facility outfitted with the most current equipment available in the field.
Current undergraduate CGT students may be eligible to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in only five years with a special plan of study.
