What makes Purdue unique is that it pushes students to think practically while also preparing them to communicate professionally and lead in fast-paced environments. The faculty challenged me to think critically, work collaboratively, and hold myself to a high standard. On top of this, my professors helped connect classroom learning to the real construction industry."
UX degrees from Purdue give their students the necessary skills to be a well-rounded leader and peer by the time they walk across the graduation stage. UX is also very close-knit, meaning we have smaller class sizes, and I really enjoyed that because I got to know the people and professors in my classes. I got to see what other people were interested in and saw all that I could do with a UX degree."
Throughout my time in Purdue Polytechnic, the idea of “hands-on experience” was emphasized constantly. Before gaining any industry experience, I did not fully appreciate how valuable that approach was. As I progressed through my internships and worked on real problems that affected real people, I saw how seamlessly the skills I learned in class translated into practice."
I feel that the School of Aviation and Transportation technology equipped me with the knowledge to succeed in my job. Special thanks are also due to the Aviation Technology Student Council—joining them as a freshman gave me the opportunity to become a leader in my own way."
I started my job in January, and I love being an engineer! My time at Purdue taught me how to stay focused and dedicated to a goal. Leaving my original path in nursing was a difficult decision, but I never regretted choosing Purdue Polytechnic for my engineering technology degree."
The value of Purdue’s engineering technology programs lies in the bridge between theory and practice. Students engage directly in their own professional development, creating and working on projects that mirror the challenges of industry jobs."
My favorite professor was Dawn Laux. As a young woman in a technology field, it felt amazing to have a female professor who helped me further understand the world of technology."

My UX Experience Studio courses did a phenomenal job of preparing me for the real world. Plus, Nancy Rasche and Anastasia Kouvaras Ostrowski both have served as incredible mentors for me and enabled me to achieve my goals through their continued support."

The Polytechnic helped make me uniquely qualified for my new job by providing hands-on experience with automation, robotics, controls, and real-world engineering projects. Dyane Roesel has provided endless support, advice and resources; Dr. Grant Richards provided a ton of advice and is a great resource; and my major's community made labs, classes, and study sessions so much fun."
The School of Engineering Technology does a great job covering the wide range of jobs I could have gone into, including manufacturing, quality control, and even theory-based jobs. Nearly all of the recruiters I have talked to are ecstatic to learn about the hands-on experience I received."
My experiences in the Polytechnic and at Purdue have prepared me well, building a diverse knowledge base of theoretical, technical and hands-on skills as well as the ability to continue learning and adapting. Something I will take with me is the desire to learn, get my hands dirty, and truly experience the work I am doing while asking questions and looking for support when I need it."

Purdue has provided me with the perfect blend of experiences to prepare me for my future career. Dr. Greg Strimel, Dr. Nathan Mentzer, and other faculty in the Technology Leadership and Innovation department have played an important role in helping me achieve my goals. I have received an incredible amount of support from these mentors throughout my time at Purdue."
The NROTC program at Purdue prepared me to take on leadership roles and set me on a path to becoming a Naval Officer. Professors like Don Barnes and Corben Meyer inspired me to pursue my dreams and gave me the support I needed to reach them."
In my interviews, it was so easy to think of examples where I had not only learned about a topic, but had implemented a complex project with a diverse group of students that highlighted the skill-sets companies were looking for alongside my project management abilities. I wouldn’t trade the past four years for anything in the world."
Purdue’s HRD program built my foundation in labor law, organizational behavior, and strategic talent management, while exposing me to emerging HR technologies. This preparation has been invaluable in my roles at Amazon and Angi, where I drive impactful HR initiatives."
