Jose Garcia, Ph.D., assistant professor of engineering technology at the College of Technology at Kokomo, has received a $5,000 grant to build a hybrid wind power drivetrain simulator. Students will be able to study concepts in mechanics, hydraulics, electronics and control with the simulator. The grant was provided by the National Fluid Power Association.
Four receive TGSAC fellowships
Each year, the Technology Graduate Student Advisory Committee (TGSAC) assists several CoT graduate students in completing their Ph.D. dissertations and M.S. theses by providing fellowships to fund resources and services necessary to the graduate student’s research.

Student organization plans Sumo Robot competition
The Association of Electrical Technologists student organization will host the inaugural Sumo Robot Competition Saturday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m., in ME 1130. The competition is open to anyone interested, including faculty and staff.
Teams can be composed of up to four people. Teams enrolled in the Spring 2012 ECET 39600 course are registered for free. Fall 2012 students in the class will be assessed a $5 registration fee. Other teams will be charged a $10 entrance fee. Registration deadline is March 15.

Alex Coleman is vice president for public sector, government, public safety, and education markets for Verizon Enterprise Solutions. He earned his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering technology from Purdue in 1986.

Michael R. Dornhecker is senior director of plant operations for Daiichi Sankyo. He earned his bachelor's degree in organizational leadership and supervision in 1984.
Diana Ephlin, 2013 Distinguished Technology Alumnus
Diana S. Ephlin is the vice president for human resources, global manufacturing, and quality, and Elanco Animal Health for Eli Lilly and Company. She earned her bachelor of science degree in computer and information technology from Purdue in 1983.
Brad Lang, 2013 Distinguished Technology Alumnus
Bradford E. Lang is a captain at Delta Air Lines, flying Boeing 757s and 767s. He earned his bachelor's degree in aviation technology from Purdue in 1985.
Anderson OLS students to assist local Impact Center
As part of a new partnership, students from Purdue University College of Technology at Anderson will help the Anderson Impact Center (AIC) develop its technology workshops and connections between employers and AIC clients.
Students enrolled in Organizational Leadership and Supervision 46700 (Service Learning) will help develop and deliver basic computer and technology workshops for AIC. They hope to make AIC’s clients more comfortable with technology and also more competitive in the job market.
The first workshops should be available in March.
