Michael W. Suckow is a Professor of Practice - Professional Flight in the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology at Purdue University. His teaching is largely focused on flight operations and senior capstone coursework. He holds an ATP with three type ratings along with Certified Flight Instructor Instrument and Multiengine Airplane rating with over 8,000 hours of flight time.
His current research activity involves harmonizing task based training with competency based training and assessment to improve the job readiness of graduates. The iterative small group trial methodology works to assess, by an equivalent or better safety standard set by the FAA, the efficacy of these harmonized concepts and build a viable framework to improve the quality of pilot training in collegiate aviation.
