Important Information

  • Flight and simulator instruction will cease on Friday, March 20 at 5: 30 pm.
  • Flight/sim instruction may resume at a future date, but we are awaiting University approval of our Enhanced Disinfection and Social Distancing Protocol. If/when we are approved, we will inform all the flight students immediately.
  • If at any point, anyone experiences COVID-19 symptoms, please report immediately and cease flight instruction.
  • Faculty will continue to develop online materials for lecture courses to continue as seamlessly as possible all the way through the end of the term, including all exams.
  • For labs that cannot be delivered online (see attached list), graduating seniors will be given priority consideration when we resume regular classes/labs.
  • If we are not able to resume labs per our proposed Enhanced Disinfection Protocol, we plan on resuming in Maymester.
  •  In Maymester, we would like to offer all the courses necessary for seniors who have applied for graduation to complete their requirements. The previously scheduled Maymester lab courses may need to be cancelled in favor of these courses. Please stay tuned as we develop a prioritized schedule for the graduating seniors.

    • The flight instructors have developed a seniority/performance-based cascading contingency plan. According to this plan, the incomplete courses and students close to finishing their certificates/ratings from spring semester will take priority during Maymester. The originally planned Maymester students will flow into Modules 2 and 3, as necessary. Those who are not able to return in the summer will need to finish their flight lessons in early fall. New (Freshman and CODO) students will cascade down the priority. Students whose flight instruction is interrupted due to COVID-19 may be credited some “refresher” flight time.
    • We realize that not all students from this semester would be available to return over the summer and complete their labs; however, we are planning to make the labs available to the extent possible. Also, the more students we are able to clear during summer sessions, the better our chances of recovering the schedule in fall.

List of courses that cannot be taught online.

The unfinished portion of these courses will have to be accommodated either when we return from spring break, over the summer, fall or spring 2021 in the future. Until then, the students will most likely receive an Incomplete “I” grade. On the other hand, 56 courses will be taught online.
