What made you decide to choose your specific major?
From getting shocked a couple of times by wall outlets, to being curious about how a microwave is able to tell me what time it is. Learning about electrical components and devices is as interesting to me as squirrels are to dogs. I have had a lifelong aspiration of being involved with technology somehow, and EET has turned out to be the best choice to fulfill this.
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
The labs associated with my courses are something I look forward to on a weekly basis. There are so many projects we do in lab, they’re all my favorite. My other favorite thing would be the challenge of the curriculum. I enjoy being challenged by my professors and I feel like it allows me to better understand the concepts from class.
What has been one of your favorite class projects?
One of my favorite projects has been being a part of a group that programmed and wired an RC car to become self-driving. We added a distance sensor, emergency brake, speed adjustment and other functions to make this work.
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
I am a student operations manager at the recreational facility on campus, the co-rec and I am a part of the Polytechnic's tutoring program. I also participate in intramural sports whenever I can. While I am not a part of Purdue Orientation Programs anymore, I was a BGR Team Supervisor twice and a BGR Team Leader once.
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
I wish someone would have told me that my course work would be so fun and exciting. Too many people I know told me Purdue’s engineering program would be more frustrating than it would be fun. The truth is, if you choose something you really enjoy, no amount of difficult coursework will take that enjoyment out of you.
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
Participate in BGR, try out as many clubs and activities as you want, make your experience at Purdue more than just academics. Take advantage of every opportunity that crosses your path, the semesters pass by too quickly.
