Purdue HR Analytics Interactive Learning Lab

Purdue’s HR Analytics Interactive Learning Lab develops students’ computational and data-analytics skills to address core HR outcomes across recruitment and hiring, performance evaluation, training and development, and retention. At the individual level, we examine employee performance, engagement/job satisfaction, and turnover intention; at the team/organizational level, we analyze financial impact, workforce planning, and how HR programs align with business strategy.

Learning is grounded in SAP HCM/SuccessFactors workflows and a modern analytics toolkit—SQL, Python/R, and SAP Analytics Cloud/Power BI/Tableau—to translate HR questions into measurable outcomes using descriptive/diagnostic analysis, causal inference and A/B testing, predictive modeling (regression/classification/time-series), NLP for employee comments, and prescriptive “what-if”/optimization. The Lab provides an enterprise-style environment with managed workstations, secure data access, and collaborative displays to support hands-on projects. Emphasis on construct validity, reproducible workflows, and responsible analytics (privacy-by-design and data governance) prepares graduates to connect HR strategy to organizational impact.
