Deniz Besiktepe, assistant professor in the School of Construction Management Technology, received the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Regional Teaching Award for Region 3. This award recognizes educators who exemplify excellence in teaching and service to the community of students and construction management educators.

Besiktepe became involved with ASC in 2018 as a Ph.D. student at Colorado State University.  She has been a strong contributor to research development, conference networking and peer review in the ASC community.

At present, she not only serves an important role as poster session chair on the ASC Annual Conference Editorial Board, but she is also helping ASC lead its mission of serving as a conduit for scholarly exchange across the construction education service community.

Additionally, she has participated in two Summer ASC Faculty Bootcamps focusing on estimating (2023) and virtual design and construction (2024), further expanding her knowledge and engagement with the broader ASC community.

Crucially, Besiktepe is also currently a member of the editorial board for the International Journal of Construction Education and Research and recently published a lead article in a special issue dedicated to research methodologies titled "Digital Technology Applications in Construction Education: A Systematic Review of Methodological Pluralism," along with her colleagues in the School of Construction Management Technology. In this article, Besiktepe and her colleagues examines the nexus of rapidly emerging technologies in teaching as well as research methodologies in construction management education.

Besiktepe shows this same passion and energy for the students at Purdue Polytechnic. She is committed to hands-on learning, mentoring and fostering an environment to support future industry leaders. Her work aligns with the premier values of Purdue Polytechnic—educating students through direct experience and practicing research-based innovative work that advocates for solutions to current obstacles in the field.
